ok i just removed the resonator box that attatches to my air filter. it resulted in a little throatier sound and perhaps a couple horses. I know you will all think its kind of ghetto but I put a piece of cardboard in to act as a partition and keep the air a little colder. go ahead, make comments.

lol ok ok the cardboard is a terrbile idea, but what about having no resonator, is that gonna hurt anything?

my other question is, how do i remove the spark plugs. i pulled out one of the spark plug wires, but im worried i may have broken the wire by pulling to hard. i lifted the rubber cap that covers the plug, and pulled up on the wire. a short length of rubber came out, but there is no connector that attaches to the spark plug. the end of the rubber length looks like it might be torn. i pushed the rubber back into the hole over the sparkplug, and put the rubber cap back on. the car started normally, and seemed like it was running fine. would i know it right away if i was running on 3 cylinders?

 

Did you see the spark plug in the hole? If no than you did tear the wire. To remove the plugs you need a special socket and an extension for the rachet. As far as the resonator goes...it's not a bad idea in my opinion, but cardboard is a firehazard.

 

when i looked at the small rubber piece i did not see a metal wire inside. it looked like just a strip of rubber that is supposed to hold the cap onto the tube that connects to the plug. im not sure where the wire actually is. the car is still running on four cylinders as far as i can tell. i took it out on the road behind my house and punched it and it felt perfect. the engine has a bit deeper tone now with the resonator gone too. what would it feel like if a cylinder was out? if i tore the wire, the cylinder would be dead, wouldnt it?

 

If a cylinder was out, you would know. If your car drives the same as it did before, then the wire is still gettin a spark to the plug.

 

ive torn quite a few of those things. it will run ok for a while, but it will give you problems soon. get a new set. try to get the ones with a lifetime warranty, those saved me a lot of money because every time i tried to pull the plug off, it broke the damn wire.
