Differences
Okay,
I'm confused a bit.
What is the difference between an SI engine and a Type R engine?
I see the different badges on certain cars but idk what's the diff.
I like the badges and I wanted to get one for my car but i don't wanna advertise what my car ain't.
I have a 94 hatch with a 96 d16y8 SOHC VTEC engine.
Which am I?

Which are you? You are a 1996 d16y8. Neither a SI (b16a2) or Type R (Civic - b16b; Teggy - b18c5). If anything, you are an "EX". lol However, the hatch you have yourself could be an SI, but 92-95 SI hatchs came with a d16z6, which is basically the same as the y8 in regards to hp/tq.

If you have a sunroof, you probably have an Si. If you don't have a sunroof, you either have a DX or CX.
I wouldn't badge the car... when you put an Si badge on the car you just make the car stick out to thieves' eyes.

Yeah, if it has a sunroof, it's an SI hatch. It came from the factory with a d16z6, the predecessor to the y8.
And I agree, you really shouldn't badge it as anything; it'll make it stick out even more to thieves, like trust said.
