Default RE: does the timing belt HAVE to be oem???

When i bought my 98 CX the last owner said he did the water pump, timing belt, cap, plugs, wires . Now the car ran and all but something didn't feel right. Because i didn't really know this guy, i talked my bro into helping me to replace everything.I replaced with all OEM parts and the car runs and sounds better then my 08civic, well you get the point, after looking at the auto zone parts like the water pump my brother noticed that it was cracked and it was new. So what I'm trying to say it stick with OEM and if you do a timing belt, replace everything else to.

Sorry for the whole story.

use oem - it is the way to go - honda makes quality parts that last a long time and I put nothing but oem in my 96 civic ex sedan. it is worth the few bucks more in the long run.
