All I know is dealing with family members can be a very bad thing. If all parties don't get their way, then baggage develops and can last for years.

You have to sign the title over, right? Well, most states require a bill of sale. Write one up, get it notarized, and set conditions. $2000 with the stereo... $1500 without... or whatever you come up with.

When I recently registered my '95 VX hatch in Texas, they would not base the taxes on what I paid ($800)... but rather, their 'fair market value' of the car (which was $2382). Use something like that to justify your price (based on applicable vehicle conditions, of course).

Blood may be thicker than water... but money can buy both.

I think the OP is sayiing he has the '93 and his brother's $1000 now, that's not right you need to choose one or the other. If the money is important he needs to tell his brother that the car's price is $2500, and maybe brother can borrow the money from Dad if he doesn't have it. And I would get on Dad a little too since he was so convinced that brother would be good for $2500 when he wasn't, and OP has been jerked around too much over that when he could've had $2800 weeks ago. Otherwise sell the car to a stranger and be done with it.

Whether the stereo equipment goes with the car or not should've been decided long ago.

not to mention this is not a life or death situation... it is whether or not his brother gets his old car...
