But im leaning more toward it being out of time...and i know for sure when he put the timing belt on he just put it back exactly like it was....but wouldent throw a code and turn the engine light on for being out of time???or not???

CHECK YOUR SPARK PLUGS & C IF THEY R FOULED CUZ IF THE ARE BAD ENOUGH THE FUEL WONT IGNITE ON WHICHEVER CYLINDER THE PLUG IS ON, & IF ITS NOT THAT CHECK TO SEE IF ALL YOUR SPARK PLUG WIRES ARE MAKING A GOODCONNECTION TOTHE SPARK PLUGS ANDTHE DISTRIBUTOR, IT COULD ALSO BE AN INJECTOR, I JUST HAD 2 REPLACE THE WHOLE MOTOR IN MY BMW CUZ AN INJECTOR WENT OUT & IT CAUSED THE INSIDE OF THE CYLINDERTO FRY BEYOND REPAIR, IDK IF ANY OF THESE THINGS ARE WRONG WITH YOUR CAR BUT MY EXPERIENCES IN MINE WHERE THE EXACT SAME....

I believe it hasn't been said yet, but if your cat is bad and clogged up it will bog your car down extremely. You can take it off and check it with a flashlight to see if it's bad or not.

After changing the timing belt or noticing a strange loss of performance, you really should check and set the spark timing with a timing light.
Having the spark timing wrong will not set a code or turn on the CEL.
