Default exhaust and air intake system

Hi ,My 2002 civic coupe engine is completely stock and I want to add an air intake and exhaust(muffler only). Is this minor modification bad or good for the engine and will it effect the engine durability. thanks

The only effect a "muffler only" is gonna have is on the ears of the people behind you. And if you are worried about durability, most of the mufflers you are prbably talking about aren't going to last very long. No benefit(except for noise) + less durable = Don't bother.

As far as the intake goes, Intakes are actually good for your motor; increasing it's efficiency and unlocking horsepower that is there for the taking. Your fuel efficiency will go up along with your Hp. Go for it.

dont go for the ractive stuff unless u just want the sound (not a good one i might add), go for AEM or Enjen, there a little more money, but you ARE getting your moneys worth, dyno proven to make more horse power, also its a 2002, dont cheap out...save up and go for the good stuff![sm=trust_me.gif]

To be honest with you... Unless you are talking about a AEM V2 or even a Weapon-R, then all intakes are pretty much alike. If you don't have the dough, just get whatever intake you can afford and get (or save for) a K&N filter.

Allow me to sum this up for you.
All intakes are basically the same, save a few.
If you add an only muffler exhaust YOU WILL GET MADE FUN OF IT IS NOT COOL. k?
If your worried about durability, you dont need to be modifying a civic. Every modification save intake/exhaust (pending you dont do/get a bad install) will most likely decrease the durability of your car.
