LOL. hey Ryguy i'd kill to have a y8 or z6 engine in my civic. i got a y7 rite now and it blows. but a z6 head swap is coming very very soon. so be happy with what u have. my friend's uncle got a y8 engine beat a nicely modified 210 hp eclipse so don't be sweating it. Keep ur SOHC Vtec. it's a good fix. : )

well for being 16 and just handed this car I am extremely grateful that I even have a vtec. I have personally found a huge difference in vtec. In my mom's car (00 accord ex v6 220hp vtec) When the engine is cold and does not activate vtec yet and then it kicks in I feel a huge boost. For vtec I live.

Then you'll absolutely fall in love with dohc vtec.[sm=burnout.gif]

EDIT: Oh, and Ry, you have a Y8 not a Y7.

by IT i meant the Y7, and i had a d15b7 for a long time, so i wont knock on the d16 too bad anyway. i actually like the sohcs a lot. they are a bit underrated, and with the Y8, a swap isnt REALLY necessary. fun, but not really necessary. and at 16, i would just go all out on the brakes and suspension, then start participating in some local auto-x events. once you have the whole car pretty well sorted out, and you have improved your skill as a driver, THEN do a big power-adder.

You don't even need to do that to get into autocross. Just stay stock and you'll be in the stock class. There's a guy on another forum that always says autocross is 90% driver and 10% car. A nice suspension is a lot more fun though.

Yeah, I'd say it's 65% driver, 28% suspension, and 7% car...
