H22 swap for my 2000 civic ex, should I?

RE: H22 swap for my 2000 civic ex, should I?
before you purchase anything, what are you looking to get performance wise out of your swapped car, b/c an h swap might not be the best option for you? and don't expect 200whp just because it's an h22, you're looking at about 170ishwhp if you're lucky.

^ less than 170... FF engine layouts usually lose something like 20% of their power before it gets to the ground... so a 200hp engine would get something like 160 to the wheels.
Anyway, to the OP: I'll do the work for you and lay out the pros and cons of the h22:
Pros
-200hp, 160 ft/lbs torque at the crank
-It revs to 7200rpm (the same as a d16z6)
-vtec
-there's actually a good bit of info if you know where to look
-h2b kits
-contrary to what some people say, it actually is basically a drop-in swap... it requires about as much work as a b18c swap (but getting the engine in the engine bay is a bit more involved)
Cons
-The low price of a swap package is decieving; h22 swaps are about the same price as a gsr swap once you get it in the car (~$4000)
-I've heard that the axles wear out every few years due to the angle they sit at (I'm not sure if this is true or not... I've heard people with h22 swaps complaining about it, and I've heard people with h22 swaps say they've never had an axle-related problem)
-There's some problem with shifting at high rpms, I can't remember what it is exactly (it wasn't a serious problem, more of a minor inconvenience)
-They don't leave much extra room in the engine bay
Personally, I'm a huge fan of h22's

-build your d16 then boost it
-get a b16, boost it(lower psi/hp)
-get a b16, build it or buy it built, boost it and own every car

no problems at high rpms either.

reaper, i was talking about with bolton's, not all stock, usually the stock airbox doesn't fit, nor does the exhaust, so you usually have to replace both units with a hybrid unit. and yes, most figures using a completely stock motor come out to around 160-165whp. yes, you're not the only person that's done research on the h swap and h2b, lol.

^ forgot about the exhaust
the h22 header will absolutely not line up with a civic exhaust, so the exhaust system needs modified to fit.
and h2b ftw!

but they do fit with modified piping.
