hatch or coup?
[size=2]well i uses to own a 1987 honda accord LXi and now i have a 1997 Nissan Sentra 200sx SE-R. all i have to say is i love hondas but the nissan is my dayly drive, but it still has 145hp and waighs less than a civic. the problem is its my dayly driver. if i turbo it i'm going to loose tons on Gas. i'm looking for a 1992-94 civic with a 1.6L engine. planing to turbo and change most parts with GS-r intake and lower it about 2 inches. One of the problems i am having is that i don't know weather i could want a hatch or a coup? i've heard hatches are lighter and coups are more ridged? but thats what i've HEARD and i don't like to trust word of mouth. if theres anyone who has had both or driven both i would like to hear what you like about each of them.

oo and the accord was really fast but handled horably. i would suggest if your starting out get one cas you learn how a car acts at slower speeds. its better to know how to turn before how to shift. i've hit 130 in it and that not bad for a 500 dollar car.

Welcome to the forum, man. Must be quite a burning question for you to chose it as your screen name.
Actually, if you stay out of the throttle a turbo can increase your mileage. But good luck not spooling that puppy up.
I have a coupe, and I think I want to go with a hatch for my next project. They are lighter, but I hadn't heard the rigidity comment before. There is plenty of aftermarket chassis stiffening out there capable of supporting as much Hp or handling that youc an throw at it.

hey thanks for your post. does the coup flex any? cas theres a sertain point where it doesn't even show through, and i've herd from some people that the coups are just a little better in some turning scenarios because they have a little more 60 40% weight rather then 70 30% going around a turn if your cars back end is too light it would have less grip with the coup it kinda evens it out with just little bit mor sheet metal in the trunk.

the thing is that even though the civic is the more economical car it might have a stiffer back end because of the fact the it has to support the hatch, it needs to flex less than the coup, so it would probably have a stiffer back end because of that, butt the coup isn't really that much bigger but it has the advantage of haveing all the trunk as a support. bluss the bracings between the rear C-pillars. at the top of the back seat. i know that alot of people may think that the hatch is lighter but a 1994 DX coup is 90 pounds lighter than a 1992 Si hatchback.the extra weight from the Si's sunroof. i figured that DX hatch would be the best, but i can't find a decent one in my area. and i need the 1.6, and my main concern is weight distribution
