Yes, it will work. You need a P28 ECU (OBD1). The only issue you should run into is that the IACV on the D16Y7 is wired differently than other IACVs.

Is the D16Y7 the original motor in the car you are using?

The motor is from a newer model. It's a d16y7 block with a d15b7 head and intake manifold.. the motor was on the car wen I got it. Everything works good I just want vtec. Will I still be able to use my intake from the d15b7 on the d16z6 and it work right. Wat about the wires for vtec to the p28 cuz I have a non vtec harness.

Oh, ok, that helps a lot to understand your question.

So I assume you've got a 1995 DX then?

The D15B7 intake manifold will be just fine to use, and you won't have to worry about the IACV I mentioned. The D16Z6 head will fit the D16Y7 block. You'll have to use a different timing belt though, and i'm not sure which one you need... probably the D16Z6 timing belt. To wire up VTEC, follow the instructions in this DIY. It's only 2 wires that you are adding. Very simple, just a little bit time consuming.

Ok cool, so I will need a p28 ecu, timingbelt, and 2 wires.
Wat is the reason for the timing belt , is the can gear bigger/smaller.

Same cam gear size, I think it's block deck height or the height of the head that makes a difference. Though, D16Y7 belt might be the same as the belt for a D16Z6... hmmm
