the ONLY way you get hydrolock is if the filter is COMPLTELY SUBMERGED in water. True you may chug and sputter, but the only way to damage your engine perminately is having the filter all the way under water.
Not true, I know someone with a focus that had cold air and blew the motor due to water being in it, and in Texas theres really no place you could submerge a filter in water unless you drove it into a lake.
