Default Headlight Voltage Max

[hr]Hi. I've a 98 Hatchback Civic & the standard Bulbs in it are **** - can't see very well at night. My question is, what is the MAXIMUM watt bulbs I can put in the standard lights so that they won't burn out or burn the switch etc. I'm not really interested in HID or Xenon kits at the moment.

Thanks.
JT

If you go too high, the wires will melt. Look for silverstar bulbs, they are brighter than stock

Is the silver reflective coating in the back of the headlights in good condition? If not you will have dim light and the only cure is to replace the headlight housings.
