HELP: how to unlock car door latch?
My 2006 Civic sedan LEFT rear passenger door was frozen and I managed to use a blowdryer and alcohol to unfreeze it.
However, I was playing with the RIGHT rear passenger door latch to see how it looked compared to the LEFT one and I accidentally turned the latch too far.
Now I can't close the door, even with my automatic key.
I tried shifting the childproof lock up and down and doesn't make a difference. The childproof lever is white.
However it's the latch that I mistakenly pushed sideways too far and now it's stuck (same way that the barb on a fish hook gets stuck or "anchored")
Please help!

You have the latch in the "closed" position, though the door is open. Put a screwdriver in the hole in the latch to simulate the pin on the frame. Pull on the screwdriver then lift the outside handle (lock must be unlocked of course). The jaws of the latch should move to the "open" position then you can close the door.
