Im going to be buying a car soon. No matter what, but i went up to the bank yesterday and opened up a savings account for something really special. Whats so special that i want is that new 2007 Honda Civic Si Coupe. There is so much that i want to do to that car, but im not going to be able to finance that car until i have about a 10 K down payment. So until then i want a civic that i can get for about 3 or 4 grand. i want it to skeet skeet. and ive been losing sleep thinking about this. So i was wondering if some of you could possibly reply to my post with a few links to some ideas. I want whatever car i get for about 3-4 grand to be easily customized (performance wise) im a motor head junky that likes to get his hands dirty replacing piston heads, connecting rods, installing bolt on turbo kits, and nos fogger systems....everything. So can anyone give me a few ideas for civics. Im really really really looking for a coupe. and manual transmission. Get a 92-95 civic, and change the engine, and you will have a fast light car

 

Heres your best options for a civic.
An EG (1992-1995), It comes with a 1.6 litre engine (D16Z6), and you could boost it for about 1000 dollars. (give or take about 200 bucks.)
An EK (1996-2000) which comes with a 1.6 litre engine (D16y7 , or Vtec D16y8 for EX trim)

You COULD, swap a cheaper engine in it, like a B16 which is a Dual Overhead Cam engine (DOHC) 1.6 litre engine, into either car. The B16 is out of a EK SI.


The possibilites are endless, but your price tag is rather cheap, (well not really, just for a fast car)
Turbo project can get expensive really fast.
Biggest thing you need to know is 01+ Civics, for a lack of a better word Suck. The engine that comes with it, is a D17. Which is what some people like to call it the red headed stepchild of the Honda engine.
They also have very little Aftermarket support.
