Default Hey Buying A 98' CIVIC

Hey Like to say wats good to u gys here. Im a bascially a new member. Im purchasing a 98' Civic 123k in a few days just needed some tips and what to look for when i test run the car and get a good look at it . Its a All Black 4dr i buying from someone in my neighborhood for 3000 cash.I have seen the total exterior only real disadvatages are aftermarket parts (headlights, tail light, Grill). When i seen this iknew to look for electrical problems and what not .. Just need to know what else tolook for..

Now here aresome other things i want to put in once i purchase the car
-Deck With Ipod Full Compadibility (he has a deck in there ill probably take out and sell)
-Amp/Sub Etc. (i dont know if it has one as of yet i will know today)
-Bluetooh Kit
-Small Paint Job (touch up)
Now i need some opinions on which brands to go for and who should install it ( i got quoted by bestbuy for 350$ for the labor)

I will be Viewing the Car within the next hour or 2

Hey if you want a sweet deck with handsfree Bluetooth, check this one out: http://www.pioneerelectronics.com/pn...833974,00.html

I bought it from Best Buy for $420, and it really kicks ***. It comes with the Bluetoothoption installed, you don't need any kits. I installed it myself, it's really not that hard, you just need to make sure you don't do a half-*** job with the wiring or it will cause trouble somewhere down the road.If you end up doing it yourself, make sure to buy the Honda Deck Install kit from Best Buy.

Check to make sure the timing belt has been replaced recently. This is the "Achilles heel" of Honda motors. If the car isn't smoking, bogging,or making strange noises, the rest of the motor is probably ok. A compression check wouldn't hurt. Make sure the tranny works well too.You could have a mechanic check it out, but for $3000 you shouldn't expect a showroom car...and motors/trannies can be swapped anyway.

I'd also look for any rust, especially underneath, and make sure it drives straight. A car with a tweaked or rustedunibodyisn't worth it's parts unless you're willing to disassemble them.
