Default hey everyone

i just bought a 1996 Honda Civic EX coupe. and i was wondering how i could get some more horsepower out of the 1.6L SOHC stock honda motor. i really dont have a big budget and i dont know much about cars, but i really want to learn how to work on them, i have such a respect for people who know how to do that kinda stuff. right now its in the shop getting a block check done to see if i need a new cylinder head, or gaskets...i hope i dont need either or i dont get those ICW rims i wanted. if you have any suggestions about modifications i could make to make my civic a little cooler, or add some horsepower for cheap im open to suggestions. im already considering a AEM cold air intake.

Good idea with the aem intake. Exhaust, headers to being with, if thats making the budget. Take your time and don't rush the build of your car. Also begin with oil changes, synthetic, etc, and just keep the stock parts serviced when they need to. Take care of the car and it will be sure to take care of you.
