Honda care
Hi everyone,
I bought a used 2006 Honda civic EX in April 2007. Currently has 15400 miles.
I am considering buying the Honda care extended warranty. I have a quote for $ 850- 0 deductible 5 yr 84 k.
Please advise whether it is useful to buy this.
Thanks in advance for advise.

RE: Honda care
Take the $850 and put in in the bank. In 5 years or 84K, I'm sure you will have a tidy sum left over to spend on something you want. Give it to yourself not a company. If they could not make money with that offer they would not offer it.

RE: Honda care
Is that 84,000k beyond the original 100,000/160,000 package they already offer (there is also only 60,000k ancillary...for stuff like ***** and gobs, but the big, expensive stuff is fully covered)?
At $850 it may be worth it if you are going to put a TON of K's on. I put 215,000 on in the last 4 years, and I just got ****ed in the bum over a bunch of things that I feel should've been covered under warranty (alternator after 115,000km, strut, front seat bushing, exhaust manifold,...etc), but only had the basic protection on it which I ran through within the first 18 months of the car.
If ever considering putting an extended warranty on something, talk to impartial Technicians/Mechanics you know and see if they think it's a good idea. I just got a set of Michelin Harmony's replaced, at Canadian Tire because I spent an extra $20 ($5 a tire) on the free tire replacement certificate, because they prematurely wore. That was a $650 set of tires, that I only had to pay for an upgrade to Hydro Edges and the balancing, disposal...etc (or about $150).
Consider how many K's you will drive in a year. Honda already has a very good warranty, and for the most part they are very reliable, but if you're not going to put much more K's on it than say 25,000, then go to ING Direct and Save Your Money.
