Default How to calculate fuel consumption about honda car?

My farther have a 2003 Civic EX,Recently The car's fuel consumption has spent a lot of money,I want to buy an Autophix OBDMate OM580 scanner from amazon,it can test fuel consumption, thereby reducing expenses.and other way?Give me some suggestions,thank you very much.

Wut.

Fill up tank. Reset trip meter. Drive. Fill up tank again. Divide miles driven by gallons put into the tank the second time and there is your MPG.

I used to do that for a company. It sucked when you got caught though. Can anyone say proxies?
