i need to change a bulb in my 02 civic, doi have to take the whole headlight out or just the bulb?

 

Open the hood and pull the bulb from behind the headlight assembly.
There should be a plastic ring you will need to turn that keeps them in place.

 

its got a rubber piece thats holding the bulb in, should i just pull it strait outor does it require any force at all?

 

You should have something that needs to be turned (only about 1/4 turn) to line up to the 3 tabs on the outer edge of the headlight to pop it out. There is also an electrical connector that has a tab you need to press down on while pulling the wiring from the bulb.

 

I think that's a H4 type. Unplug the wire connector, pull the rubber piece completely off, and you should find a metal clip holding the bulb in by it's metal flange. Remove the clip and change the bulb,secure new bulb with clip, put rubber piece back on, and plug in the wire.

 

mk is correct. I thought they went in the same as the 9003,4s but I was mistaken. Thanks mk for straightening that up.
