Im just not really getting much feedback on which way to go with this car.
Im just not really getting much feedback on which way to go with this car.
The best projects out there started with a goal, and a plan... and a lot of research. Buying a few parts and cobbling it together without knowing what you really want will only cost you even more in the long run because of incompatibilities or changing your mind.
My advice: check out a bunch of the 'success stories' around these forums, as well as other places, and figure out what you like best. All those other people have done the hard work of figuring stuff out, and I'm sure they'd be happy to share information with a fellow Honda enthusiast.
And so far a lot of suggestions to 'save your money' have been posted. Sounds like good feedback to me.

yo if your car is paid offand dont have much other responsibiliteies and jazz and have good credit get a loan for another honda. get something manual and def. vtec i bought my 2000 si last week with 80,000 mi. on it for 9gs and 80000mi. is barely breaking in a honda engine look around for something in your area thats a better platform to start on im sure theres a honda thats a good used car to have as a project car. if you wanna full out race with only one car you will be ****ed in the end . no car no work no work no money no money no nothing the govt will take it all!so keep the one now as a DD and get a better car to race with

The manual tranny swap will give you more power than the header/catback. Manual transmissions roughly use absorb 15% of power, whereas automatics eat 30% or more. I HAD a boosted Z6 automatic, it was fun, but I knew it was going to blow up. Now I have the same car, but a 5 speed GSR engine in it. 5 speed is much better.
