i need a new d16y7
hello i have a 2000 honda civic lx and went to far without an oil change and my engine is knocking, i would like to know how easy it is to take out the old engine and then put in a new one. also i have an automatic and would like to know if other engines will hook up with the same trans. thnks i really would like to know. i am a senior and i really dont know what to do.

It's the same engine, whether the car is automatic or manual. There are quite a few different engines that will potentially fit in your car, but you will need to modify other things. The simplest thing is to put another D16Y7 in. The Civic is one of the simplest cars to remove and replace the engine, if you have a complete set of garage tools like an impact wrench and of course an engine hoist. You may not even need to remove the hood.

Finding a low mileage motor is the way to go. Make sure you replaced the timing belt and water pump when you do it. I had my motor rebuilt because I had a D16y5, I want it to keep it stock. There aren't many Y5s but Y7s are a dime a dozen.
