Default I'm new here:)

hey guys, I am new here, im 16, from Ontario, Canada and I got my grandpas Civic for christmas! its a '91, red hatchback with the 4 speed standard and im pretty sure the 1.5L it has less that 100,000km on it, and its in pretty damn near perfect shape. Only problem is that I'd like to throw in a new gauge cluster, one with that has the tachometer, because the stock one doesn't. I could drive by sound, but you know, the having a tach is preferable. So far I've only seen two gauge sets on ebay, one for an auto, that was $40 but it was automatic, so that's no good is it. Second one, was a jdm spec 91 civic model, but it's jdm, so it will probably have a different redline or something won't it? I've been told the setup is probably going to be a plug and play sorta deal, but can you guys gimme some more info on what to expect?

Thanks, norco123

Welcome. The gauge cluster is plug and play, and yes the jdm cluster will have a different rdline but it will still work. It's what i got in my 93 civic.

Um... I dont think its plug and play... because the cluster didn't have a tach before, so why would it be wired for it? Get a tach from princess auto, or canadian tire. You can get a good one for around 30$. Or... yes you could just upgrade the cluster you have, and find one at an auto wrecker, or get one from ebay. Then you have to pay shipping and handling on top of the cost, then the time installing it along with the stock wires... it's harder than it sounds and not worth the time IMO.

P.s. Welcome to HCF!!
