Insurance
Do you think it is important to insure the modifications that have been added to your car? Do the majority of you do so? (Say extra coverage for a great sound system, or rims or a turbocharger, etc.)
Do most insurance companies allow for such coverage?

RE: Insurance
Yes most companies will allow it, and I definitely think it's a good idea. However, I wouldn't add anything that isn't worth $200 or more. I'm currently in the process of having my turbo setup as a whole ensured, mostly just for peace of mind.

side effect of notifying your insurance companies of modifications such as turbos, is a potential raise in your rate due to the newly found increase in speed etc

It's up to the individual as to what chance they're willing to take. Risk higher insurance costs or risk the total loss of their investiment if they do have an accident. If you expect them to cover it, you'd best let them know it's there.
Good luck,
