just got new honda
Hey everyone, I just took a big leap and traded my 03 8 cyl mustang to my dad for his civic (gas saver). I have an extra couple thousand dollars and want to supe up my civic. I want it like a drift racer like from fast and the furious. I want to keep it lite while at the same time getting the most power. What upgrades would you all recommend. Also How do i tell if i have a vtac. Any opinions.

RE: just got new honda
well i don't mean to be mean (that sounded delicious), but it's Vtec, not tac. It doesn't bother me, but it bothers alot of others on this site.
Secondly, By telling us the model of your vehicle we can tell you if it has the Vtec. LX/DX models don't have it, EX and SI models do. Yours isn't the SI, but might be the EX.
To be honest, you can find out yourself by popping the hood and looking on the engine. If it says "Vtec Honda" than it is.... If it doesn't, than it's not.

FWD cars are not for drifting. Civics are built more for economical commuting than power. They are also inherently better for twisty auto-X tracks than straightline drag tracks. If you want to boost your performance on a VTEC Civic, I would start at the wheels/tires, and suspension. For better engine performance, you'll have to decide if you want to retain the current engine and tranny...of which we have little idea what they are, besides the 7th-gen 1.7L.
Post more info to get more info.

Got this? Then it's a VTEC:
Only rear wheel drive cars can really be set up for drifting. A good start would be to:
- Lower it
- Fit new air induction kit
- Fit strut braces
- Simple lip kit (not body kit please)
- Alloys
Go from there.
