RE: k20 vs h22
did some research. k20 is almost the same in hp tq and rl k20 is alot bigger of an engine tho and is way more expensive. so no thanks on the kseries. would a stock h22 be a quick car if it was in an ef? someone said there not that great of motors? only get power out of em at 6700 rpms and that id have to build it up? what does that mean what would i have to get to have a full built h22?

RE: k20 vs h22
it would be pretty quick. think about it it hauls around a prelude at like what i think 15.5 stock quarters and the prelude is a heavy car. if your puttin it in a little ef it will be pretty damn fast just runnin the stock motor. but its deffinetly more work than a b-series or zc. and what is this guy talking about yeah if you wanna run under 11 secs your gonna wanna built motor. basically that means forged rods and pistons and for serious motors sleeved, also some head work port n polish oversized valves, duel valve springs titanium retainers and a cam. run a turbo on that set-up i hope you have a i peice front end and huge slicks. h22 + turbo low boost you'll be happy and friggin fast. if you want a easy swap get a zc dohc, turbo it and you'll be pretty fast

as of now im not to sure about the h22 now. i read pros and cons and stuff about em and they dont seem worth the money. they dont handle well? messes up your axels? hard to find parts and if you do there expensive. doesnt sound worth it. what other mother would fit in nicely and be quick? thinking gsr? b16a type r? any others?

zc= easiest not very much power but it can be made to be quick
d-series= d16z6 not a bad upgrade not a ton of power BUT when somthing breaks parts are incredibly easy to find, part are dirt cheap and have alot of aftermarket support, potential to make power
b-series= tried and true, stock internals can handle low boost which is capable of making great power, good power stock, cheap performance parts , easy swap
h22 = great stock power, hard to find parts, expensive performance parts
k20 = great motor, great power, be prepared to sell your liver on the black market to afford parts

RE: k20 vs h22
it would be very quick but i have heard the big arguement over and over again about that motor regaurding boost. some say compression is to high and boosting a stock block is not good on the type r's. some say its ok to boost it to like 12psi and it will hold it fine. im not sure and havent looked into the exacts and come to m own conclution yet. i planed on a jdm b16a2 civicsir motor and that just loves the boost. call it good after that. thats all i need for the street.

im not lookin for boost atm just a quick bolt on car and that b18c-r looks like it could be a quick car with just bolt ons. and i mean later down the rode i can port polish do head work forge **** and then boost it but for now just a daily driver but quick

RE: k20 vs h22
I have an ef with a B16A2 (160hp 113tq) with just a CAI and custom exhaust. Its pretty quick, easily beat 325's and such. Power in these lil guys goes a long way.
Like this, a BMW 325 has 184hp and weighs something like 3400lbs.
My car, a 1990 civic weighing about 2100lbs, with 165hp......
More than a 1000lbs difference and only 20 less hp.
A h22 would be 200hp in a 2100lbs car... think about it.
