Default LS/VTEC Build

Whats up guys! its been a loong time!

i tried posting this lastnight but i guess it didn't go thruogh for some reason.
i don't know if this is in the write section but if its not sorry guys.

I'm planning to do a ls/vtec build. i'm buying the swap from my friend for $500 since he didn't end up doing it. the swap comes with b18b1 block(taken apart), Ls tranny, b16 SI-R head, and everything else i need to swap it in my 95 civic ex coupe, except for the ecu and distributor. and since i have to rebuild it i'm planning on putting high compression pistons and eagle rods in it. i need opinions from you guys. can i use my p28 ecu and get it chipped? Is this a good setup? what compression ratio should i get on the pistons? my friend says to get a b16 obd1 distributor. oh... is there some aftermarket camshafts that don't require changing out the valvetrain? let me know guys... i'm getting the swap this coming up weekend... hopefully.

oh and i almost forgot to ask... what compression ratio do integra type r pistons have?

I dont know the answer to your question about the type r pistons, sorry. I wanna say its 11:1, but I really can't remember.

What transmission are you using with your ls/vtec setup? Don't go with the LS tranny unless you're planning on going turbo (which I don't suppose you are since you're looking at high comp pistons)

Is this gonna be a daily driver? If so, I'd use a LS tranny and go turbo. Personally, I'd stick with the LS head too, but thats just me. There's too many problems associated with LS/vtec. I think it'd make for a better daily than a high comp LS. LS blocks simply aren't meant to spin to the kind of RPM's that the Vtec head will BEG to be revv'ed to.

Oh, and for the love of god, be sure to have the oil passages machined out so that they line up cleanly, or you'll be blowing your head gasket every two weeks.

Anyone else have any opinions on this? I know a decent Ls/vtec can be done, but it has to be done right or it WILL NOT be reliable.

thanks for that info... my friend has built ls/vtec motors before so he's going to help me. and yes i'm going to have an Ls tranny "for now" the reason he has the ls tranny was because he was going turbo. i'll look into the turbo setup for this. i found out that the CR for the ITR pistons. they're 11.5:1. the CTR has 12.2 or 5:1.
