So if I figure correct that is over 150,000 miles. What I would do is go to 10-30 or 10-40 first. Lucas is good stuff & i use it in many of my trucks. I have used it for many years. I really don't think it would hurt your engine. It has never done anything but help mine. But as I said try going up on oil weight first. I believe that 5-30 is too thin for older engines. Thin oil is recommended because when they do fuel mileage & smog tests to get ratings the factories use as light of oil as possible. Ford was recommending 0-20 in some of their new vehicles. It got so bad a few years ago that a major lubrication magazine ran an article in regards to the fact that were these light oils TOO LIGHT to LUBRICATE properly. They concluded YES.
I use to buy new trucks every few years & I never bought into these real light oils & never ran less than 10-30 in any vehicle no matter what the factory recommended.
I run 10-30 in my 90 Civic & plan to go up to 10-40 because it uses a little oil. I might add few ounces of Lucas at the next oil filter change.

i use lucas, but Not on healthy engines, do you know how the oil pump works?
best way to explain this is the engines oil pump is the same design as a power steering pump and to thin of a oil is bad, and also to thick of an oil is bad. the thick lucas oil is designed to help with worn out engines in coating their bearings and worn oil seals to help the engine last a little longer than as to not using it and spinning a worn rod bearing. using lucas on a good healthy engine will actually shorten its life, as for the saying if its not broke, dont fix it.

change your oil and filter every 3, 000 miles and you will be fine, you can also switch to synthetic oil.
There is NO miracle additive you can put into your engine. All the stuff you see on the shelves is for temporary fixes.

You seem pretty set on using it, so doubt you'll listen to us.....but unless there's something wrong with you motor, you don't need. Don't waste the money. Buy something else the car actually needs instead

well i hear that synthetic in a high milage car it will **** out as fast as it goes in plus i am just experimenting theres a deal 1 litre of the oil stabilzer and fuel treatment 500ml for 12 bucks so you cant go wrong but i am wondering how much do i add to a full engine of oil
