Default Mileage Question

Well i have been looking for civic's and i could not help but notice how rare it is to find a Civic that is under $5,000 with less than 100,000 mile on it. And my question is would it be safe to buy a car with over 100,000 miles on it, upgrade the intake headers and exaust on it? Because my fear would be that i buy these parts and my car still would not run right being that it already had 100,000 miles on it. So if you guys could help me out it would be greatly appreciated. or if you can post any tips on buying a used car like what to look for.

100k miles is still a baby for a honda. be sure the timing belt and water pump are replaced and you'll be fine.

My 1999 Honda Civic HX M/T was bought Nov 07 with 99,400 miles on it for $3500. But it's a 100% rust free Texas car and has a salvage title. Runs 100% solid since I had it.

I just stole a 95 civic with 200,000 miles, never wrecked, 2 owners and good paint for only 1600 bucks. I honestly feel like I need to go back to the guy who sold it to me and give him another benjamin or 2. I checked Auto Trader, and this car sells for an average of 3,800. SWEET!

Just do a compression check on it, make sure there are no major leaks, and you should be good. Honda's are notoriously reliable, and as long as the fluids are changed/checked regularly it should run for a million miles.

What year was it and how much did you drop on that bad boy? I think you and I both lucked out. With todays gas prices, I foresee the availability of these cars becoming almost nonexistent. It was hard finding the one I did at the price I did.

I bought my girlfriend a car from New York that had 40,000 original miles on it and the original owner sold it to us for 3,000. If you're patient you will find those "Old lady" deals.

My car has 150k on it and its still running great.
