I double checked my temp gauge. It goes up to the bottom of that little thermometer picture, right below the wavy lines. I guess its closer to 1/3 of the way than 1/2 way up.

This past weekend I have changed to 5W30 over 10W30 castrol edge syntec. Aired up tires to about 36 psi, still 28 mpg.
I was checking under hood & noticed in between the "V" of the exhaust manifold is a crack about 1/16" wide & approx 3-4" long. Will this cause mileage loss? I looked up on ebay a new catalytic & manifold just under $200

check the spark plug wires and anything else that could reduce the spark intensity.

Cracked manifold is not good. Air coming through the crack fools the O2 sensor and makes the ECU run the engine rich.

Beware a lot of ebay "converters" don't actually have catalyst in them. They're just hollow shells.

@mk378 That may be my problem. On ebay I was looking at the whole manifold with cat converter on it. I know they have those so called "High flow cats" that are just a pipe. I was also looking online yesterday that permatex makes a super high temp putty for manifolds , I may look into that

Yeah, I'm pretty sure your car has the one-piece cat-exhaust manifold system. I think all 6th gen non-vtec engines do. I tried a lot of different high temp putties when mine was cracked. they would stay on for a week at most, and then they would burn off. The price on that ebay manifold-cat is pretty good, but I couldn't tell if it came with a new gasket or any other hardware. Dorman makes a direct replacement that is carried by a lot of autoparts stores. The part number is 674-439.

The exhaust manifold on my '98 DX auto had a crack in it a couple of years ago. I bought it about two weeks before the check engine light came on (which was for the crack in the manifold). I was getting 25MPG driving like an old lady! Put a new manifold in to the tune of $634, hopped on the highway a bit and was getting 38-40MPG. Now that I'm driving mostly in the city, I've been getting 31-33MPG, but I could be getting better if I wasn't so determined to hear the AEM SRI and the Flowmaster

So for sure get the manifold fixed.
