my almost cherry 1981 Civic, what to do, could use some help, please and thanks
I bought a house and it came with beautiful 1981 civic, 1.3 liter, 4 speed no air, 86000 miles, no rust, been parked in doors, its in great shape....HOWever!!! it was parked with gas in the bowls and fuel cell. from experience with my 83 accord of many years, im not at all impressed with the over designed carburetors on first and second generation Hondas. High altitude and California emissions, what a F'n nightmare.
I want to build this thing just to run around on Saturday night, im not worried about emissions or passing inspection, money fixes that problem. Can I strip off that absurd carb set up, manufacture an adaptor plate for a simple 2 barrel carb from jegs??? im not worried about vacuum, just enough to run the advance ignition, no environmentals.
if thats a bad idea, what power plant if any could I retrofit in the 81. Is there a particular year of fuel injected engine that would fit in my car.
The current engine will run and drive but the fuel delivery system is junk, too expensive to rebuild and was a bad idea from its conception….any ideas??
Thanks in advance

you could fabricate a new manifold and linkage for the carb of your choice to run on your civic. it would be a lot easier to do that than to swap and wire a fuel injected motor.

heres the pics, maybe, ill try
ill try to put up the pics. interesting enough, we had a hail storm, my civic, 71 vw, toy celica, and 66 nova where all outside, next to one another, the civic was the only one to take hail damage
