RE: Need help! clicking noise from in motor?
car runs great, I'v noticed gains at above 4k rpm. It's nice the old air filter must have been pretty dirty, I havn't checked it since o got the car 1 month ago.
Changing spark plug wire? didn't think that was nessicary with the way the motor has the coils mounted ontop of the plugs. What do i change? the wires under the Spark plug cover?
I'm about 1/2 quart low on oil, and it;s pretty dark. It looks like the motor is not as clean inside as I'd like it.
Good thing i'm swtiching to synthetic Oil. And I have some Lc20 and FP60. My Denso Iridium plugs come pregapped. Right?

I don't have a service manual for 7th gens, but on 6 gens it says to replace the air filter every 15-30 thousand miles, and plugs about every 30. So I assume the 7th gen is around that as well. Get that oil changed asap, and keep up with it. Fresh oil = ultra important. The manual says nothing about plug wires, so I never change mine. I don't think Iridium plugs will be necessary, but if you want em go for it. Yes they come pregapped, but it's always a good idea to check them before you install them, just in case.

I know i don't need iridium plugs, But I've always babied my cars. I also have a 91 Cavalier That runs beautiful. And it's because i'v always changed the oil, i've always used good oil. in general i take care of my cars.
Well I'm off to get to work on this thing i'll let you guys know what the deal is.

well, i can't tell you what it was. The new spark plugs? the new oil? or both. But the car runs really smooth now. I can be cruising at 50mph and just be resting my foot and the pedal and not hear a peep. In general the motor just runs a lot smoother. As do the brake since i replaced the pads. Clicking seems to be gone, but i'm gonna pop the hood tomorrow and give it a solid listening to for a while just to make sure.
