Back to why I am starting this thread...So i bought a sony cdx-gt54oui stereo radio thing and i want to remove my stock one and replace it with this and I was wondering if any1 could provie a link to or give me detailed instructions on how to do this myself... Thanks a lot I know this is annoying but I do not know and I need to start somewhere....

Also if this is not the best way to learn how to do this maybe someone could point me in the right direction. Thanks

i also heard i have to ground the car b4 i start this??? like unplug the battery is this true?

 

It's not called grounding the car, I don't think. That doesn't really make sense.

But yes, you need to unhook the battery (removing the negative terminal only is enough, you don't have to unhook both) to remove the current from the electrical system.

 

ok i unpluged negative and after removing the lower dash i relized that my car has a different stereo from factory......a xr-1790 sony stereo and i do not know how to get the stupid thing out....any help?

 

Generally look for and unscrew any support attached to the back end of the unit, pull the trim ring off from around the outside of the front, and release the latches at the sides and slide it out. The latch tools that came with your new Sony may work to remove the old one.
