need some opinions
my car has 85k miles on it right now, is it worth it getting into a turbo project? 85,000 miles is getting up there a lil bit and I dont want to spend all this money on a turbo set up and only get a couple years out of it. I guess my question might be, say I decide to keep this car for the long run and turbo it now, when I hit 150,000 miles or around there, could i do an engine swap to make it like its pretty much a brand new car? Is this how things work? LOL. How much $$ am I looking at for an engine swap project including labor? Would I need to swap the entire engine or just the motor? (or are they the same thing?)

go turbo now, the motor is great for it...then later, (quite a while later) if you ever have problems, ls motors are pretty cheap and just drop in a new one, the turbo will already be fit up for it.

RE: need some opinions
B18B is not a bad motor, but the rod to stroke ratio is the sole reason why I decided not to go LS/VTEC. I know you said you were thinking of going force induciton on a stock B18B, and not LS/VTEC, but I think the genernal idea applies, which is your planning on putting a lot more stress on your stock internals. From reading other forums people commented that the stock rod bolts are the single point of failure in B18B applications. LS motors can be great if built properly, but it takes a lot of research, money, and a good mechanic to accomplish a reliable B18B in the end. If you decide to turbo your B18B let me know how it works out, and how much boost you decide on.

well the more research I do the more ideas I get and the more I change my opinion. If you think I'm one of those guys that says "oh yea im going to turbo my car" and then all they think they need to do is buy a turbo and put it in and dont do any research you are wrong.

If you truly had the knowledge (NA, FI, how/why they work, what meets your needs, etc etc etc), you wouldnt have to ask questions like this.
