Question noob question!!!

What kind of oil should I use in my Civic? I have a Civic 2000 LX with over 1250.000 miles. I have seen people using 5-30 or 5-20 but some others use 10-30 or 10-40. Also, should I use regular oil, blend synthetic or Synthetic?

put it this way honda spent millions designing your engine if they say use 5w20 then use 5w20 and don't listen to anybodys personal opinion. i prefer moboile1 full synthetic 5w20 but thats my personal opinion.

My recommendation is to switch over to full synthetic.. or atleast a good high mileage blend. If you have been using conventional and want to switch to synthetic just do this. Use seafoam or other engine oil cleaner. Run for 500 miles, drain and fill synthetic. Drive for a few thousand miles or so and monitor for leaks and oil consumption. If only moderate (which is normal for older Honda engines) no big deal. If it's going through a quart every couple weeks or more, switch to high mileage blend or conventional. Drain and fill again you will notice a bunch of sludge cycling out of your engine still, it is remnants from conventional that is normal. Then should be good to go for regular oil intervals.
