Well, i did it. I finally managed to somehowblow my engine in a race without even redlining the sob and now it knocks on the top and bottom. SO, time for that swap i've been waiting for all this time. Anyone know if you need a mount kit to put a B16A1 into a '97 EX. Or if you've got any sites with used b-series for cheap let me know.

Not having done a swap, I don't know for sure, but I think you need a mount kit. After all, the B's are dohc compared to the sohc D.

 

i think you are going to need a b series mounting kit mossy, but i am not sure

the swap is fairly straightforward. you only need a couple mounts: Si rear tranny T-bracket, Si timing belt side mount, any 94-01 b-series front tranny bracket if you want to use it, 96 Del Sol VTEC a/c bracket f you want to keep a/c, Si power steering pump if you want to keep that, b-series axles, b-series shift linkage. your engine harness will work but you might need to extend a few wires.

 

that engine linked is illegal in his car.

 

if he wants a b16a1 its going to be since its from a 88-01 car and his is a later model.

you wont need a mount. i swapped my SOHC ZC with a b16 using the same mounts.. even tho its diffrent series doesnt matter my b16a bolted right on my d series mounts FTW!
