Oil change brain

my 08 civic will tell me when the oil needs changing. . . . how does the engine know ? ? ? ?

It's all in the computer software. You change oil every 3000-5000 miles. The computer recognizes that you've gone that distance because the odometer is also digital.

not really on our cars 2006-2010 civic's its just a maintenance reminder system. it doesn't have the soft ware to tell if the oil is dirty or worn so its really like a idiot light.

then, how does the "idiot light" reset itself when i change the oil ? i guess thats the real question. . . and i do have conviction in my question regardless of how many question marks i insert.

because they reset it, the place you get it done at resets it,
like if you look at a 996-2000 for example on your cluster you can stick your key in it, idk how you reset it in the newer ones, its probably in your manual!!!

try reading it front to back when yuo are bored you learn alot haaahah
