OIL change intervals

RE: OIL change intervals
Not sure about a brand new engine. But I have been told by a Honda tech that the regular interval for changing genuine Honda oil is every 5,000 miles or 1 year in harsh driving conditions. Im from Denver, so that's what we are classified as. I think its as high as 10,000 in a more regular climate he said. I would not believe this had I not been told it by Honda lol. Has anyone wlse heard this. Because that just sems high to me. I was always taught 3 months or 3k whichever comes first.

i wouldnt worry until 5000 miles, if youre using synthetic, then 7-10k isnt too long, but remember that the filters are not made to go that long, id recommend replacing the filter at least every 5k. this comes from my good friend (who is one of the smartest guys i know) who worked at jiffy lube for a couple of years.

i change mine about every 3k...sometimes.

A 3K change interval on synthetic may seem like overkill but I grew up changing it that often and old habits die hard... ..besides, oil is cheap insurance IMHO.[sm=smiley34.gif]

RE: OIL change intervals
i guess my situation is a little different in that i use about 2 qts of synthetic between changes, so its half changed in between anyways. i think its just a tiny leak in the head gasket, which i know is leaking on the coolant to atmosphere side anyway. damnit. anyone have a 95 usdm gsr block FS?[:@]
