Hey everyone!!! Kinda new to this site. Wanting Some ideas for My Civic. It's an 88 HatchBack DX. It's Red. Got a lot of rust on body :'( Frame's good, Engines good, had some minor problems but just fixed that. I will probably be Replacing the quarter panels and as much as the body i can...or i might just cut out all the rust and do the body work myself (although im new to all this so i'll probably mess it up :P) Below are some pictures of my Engine, and the Outside. Give me some Good Ideas. im a 17 year old Kid. I should have about $1500 within the next couple weeks to work on my car. Any General ideas would be great.

 

i would get some black or white 15" rims, a decent catback exhaust system, take the chrome off, tint the windows, header and intake..... should be good for a little while until you get some more money

 

also might want to get a battery to.... just a thought

 

hehe, the battery is back in :P i had a blown fuse and was messing around with the wiring and electronics. just making sure i didnt get shocked....again.... lol. Thanks for the input. may i ask what a catback exhaust system is?

 

its an exhaust that goes from the catalytic converter back. mid-pipe and muffler.

on most civics it looks like this but for ur car it'll be a lil differnt shape.

does it add HP or anything? just noise? Im In Canada as well. So my Pricing Might be different than anyone in the States. also. how Much US or Canadian would a fairly good catback exhaust run for. and do you know any good Companies that make them? like Flowmaster etc?

 

Yeah they add HP...and sometimes noise, depending on what kind you get. I've searched around and prices start at about $200 USD. And some are ridiculously expensive. Check out reviews to see what's worthwhile. Some names I've seen are Borla, Magnaflow, and Pacesetter. There are plenty more. Good luck!

I had a similar civic like that when i was 16, mine was an 89. I honestly would use some of that money to work on your rust, you will have plenty of time to put performance in your car, if i was you i wouldnt do anything performance to the car, i would do a engine swap and then build up the motor. the question you must ask yourself is how long do you plan on keeping the car? if you only plan on keeping it for a few years then do some performance to it but if you want to keep it longer then do a little body work then engine swap and have fun building up that motor. what do you plan on doing?

 

i have an 88 crx, imo, it would be wise to get rid of that nasty rust, b4 it gets worse, i am doin alittle bit of my motor b4 i get rid of rust, only because i am going to do streetlegal drags at a track here, on juse 2nd, after that i will do the body work that it needs, then slap on a body kit!!!
