Pistons on D16z6 good?
#11
I understand...I thought he was talkinga bout rods. That is about what I thought the rods were good for.
I mentioned that going turbo would require an upgrade because I wthought it safe to assume that going turbo meant you were trying to push the 200+ HP threshold.
I agree though...it is about horsepower, not PSI of the turbo.
Thanks for the clarification

Well thanks guys that answered my questions plus more.Other question is, in future, when get the miles on this newly motor, like over 140,000, if I can board this motor over to a 2.4 and get new pistons and rods? If so, what estimate do you guys see in this costing?

lol... are you trying to say you want to bore it to a 2.4liter? lol....not possible. Maybe boring it to a 1.8, but not much more than that. Unless sleeved, the more you bore, the weaker your sleeves or piston walls would be = not good for boost.

most go with 75.5 pistons, so .5 over if they bore it out. Youre not going to get anywhere near 2.?L .
The p29 75.5 pistons (for high CR NA builds) and the 75.5 mm vitaras (fj distributors carries them but they are out of stock right now) for turbo applications are great choices. Just make sure you clay after install to make sure you dont have valve to piston clearance issues.
If youre trying to go NA I would go with P29 pistons (out of integras 86-87) and leave the stock rods. Bore it 75.5 and get the oversized P29s from fjdistributors. With a lot of head work and a damn good tune you could be pushing around 160HP.
