I have a 92 civic CX with a D15B8 1500 SOHC 8-valve 70 HP engine. Is it possible to put in a D16Z6 1600 SOHC 16-valve 125 HP VTEC engine?

yes and its almost easy if you have mechanical ability. the engine will bolt in to your car using the factory mounts, the same clutch and transmission. (however a better geard trans from an si would be a large benefit) but you will need to use the p28 ecu and then run some wires for the vtec system to work. www.rywire.comshould have the wiring kits you needs.

or if you know someone who knows how to solder, you can buy a VTEC conversion kit to turn your p06 or whatever into a p28 from Xenocron.com for $23.xx shipped

just to make sure that i understand p28 is thename of thecomputer for the D16Z6 vtec and p06 is the name of the computer for the D15B8 non-vtec.If that is incorrect please explain. If that is correct answer yes.

yes, P28 is the d16z6 ecu. But your ecu isn't P06, it's aP05. P06 is for the D15B7.

I don't know anything about the D15Z1. But I do know that the D15B7 will be easier to swap in than the D16Z6 since the D15B7 doesn't have VTEC. You won't have to run wires for VTEC to your ECU, but the D16Z6 will definitely be worth it with the extra work and time... Especially since the D15B7 only has 102hp, while the D16Z6 has 125hp, and VTEC. I've read about swapping a D16Z6 and the VTEC part really doesn't seem difficult. I have a D15B7 and everyday I wish I had bought a civic with a D16Z6.
You might want to look into a mini me, which incase you don't know is where you mate a VTEC head onto a non-VTEC block. I know you can put a D16Z6 head on a D15B7 block. I would imagine that you can probably put a D16Z6 head onto your D15B8- hopefully someone can tell you for sure if that's possible.
