Wow that's impressive. I've got a chance to get a 95 but the motor is blown. It's a long ways from being as nice as yours. Do you have a suggestion on where I could find an engine?

thanks. the only thing i don't like about my car is the paint is whack. you can't tell from the pics, but it's pretty messed up paint. it had some chipping, so i sanded the chipping areas down smooth and used some touch up paint, and some clear coat, but i couldn't get it to shine. so i have these spots on my car where the paint is really dull. pisses me off every time i see it.

about the motor, you can find engines on ebay and craigslist.
what's your budget for putting an engine in it? are you looking to put a close to stock engine in it or do you want to swap in a b-series or something?

what exactly is wrong with the engine? is it repairable or does it have a hole in the block or something?

Bummer about the paint.
95 has a hole in the block. Previous owner did an oil change and didn't get the old gasket off. Lost oil on the interstate. I'm not sure what motor is in it. He said something about D16Z????? Said it still turns over too. Anyway what is the difference from stock and B series, price and performance?

stock (d16z6, SOHC VTEC) is 125hp. b16 is DOHC VTEC with 158hp.
however, you can find a d16z6 or a jdm d15b (jdm d16z6 equivalent, actually has 130hp) on ebay for like 600 bucks. b16's run like 2000 for the swap.
it'd be a lot easier to just replace the motor with stock or a JDM d15b. if you got a b16 you'd need a b-series transmission and a bunch more stuff.

if you get a JDM d15b, get the JDM tranny too (usually is included with the motor on ebay), it has a LSD in it and is pretty nice

the good thing about the JDM motors is they have low mileage

600 bucks sounds good to me. JDM??? Is that a company that deals in used motors? LSD??? Now I'm really showing my ignorance!

lol. it's alright man. i'll be happy to answer any questions regarding these terms.

JDM= Japan Domestic Market
JDM engines are engines that have been imported from Japan. They usually have low miles on them. I guess Japanese people buy new cars often or something.

LSD= Limited Slip Differential
An LSD is a part in the transmission (most transmissions don't have one, they have an open differential) that helps distribute engine power more equally to the wheels. This helps with traction off the line
It will also around a corner distribute more power to the wheel with the most traction. The same thing will happen if one wheel enters sand or some other obstruction, to give more power to the wheel with the most traction. This helps with traction/stability around corners, through sand or standing water, etc.
definitely worth having

Hey thanks for the patience. So if I get a JDM D15b with a tranny (is that a 5 speed?) it will bolt right up? Would you spend money on new half shafts are anything else? Do you have a suggestion for a good shop manual because I bet I'll need one.
