Purchasing a 2008 Civic EX
I'm looking at getting a 2008 honda civic ex, 5sp automatic transmission. It's the dealer's test drive Civic so it has 1,500 miles on it...makes me a little weary. Demo miles are generally pretty rough miles. The warranty will not be extended by the number of miles. I test drove it and it drove fine...I liked it.
Sticker is $20,145
I'm in NJ.
What's a reasonable price for this vehicle? $17,500? $18,000?
Any other advice?

RE: Purchasing a 2008 Civic EX
I'm from NJ (northern) also . . . two weeks ago I purchased a new, leftover 2007 civic EX, 5 speed stick, for $16,300. I love it . . . handles great, etc etc. If you can drive a stick, you can get a good price and there are new 2007s available. They want to get rid of ones with manual trans. My opinion about the car you are considering, I dont think 1500 miles would be a problem, really. The car is actually broken in, IMO. You may be able to bargain them down to $18,000 or thereabouts. It all depends on how much they want to get rid of the car and how good you are at stonewalling. Good luck - keep us informed.

yeah the true market value on edmunds is about 19k, for a new car with not so many miles...
unfortunately i can't drive a stick, or else that would be an option. this dealer said they sold out of the 2007's awhile ago. but i'll keep searching, too.
thanks for your help everyone.

Yeah, the question I have is financing ... are they going to extend to you the new-car financing deal that Honda has right now? As low as 2.9% for 60 months on new civics! That's what sealed the deal for me on a new one.
