You just need a manual flywheel I believe.

Oh you have the 96-00 D15B (3-stage VTEC). That's an economy motor... less power than a D16Y8, I think... it may be just as powerful though, i'm not sure. You of course have to have it wired up correctly and have the JDM P2J ECU for 3-stage VTEC to work as intended. If you have it wired like the D16Y8 and with a D16Y8 ECU, only one stage of VTEC will work... I think it would be only the VTEC-E and normal stages... but the D16Y8 ECU will not do it at the right RPM.

This will give you the breakdown on 3-stage VTEC... basically it's purpose is to give you a mix of greater fuel economy and performance. It's like the cross between a D16Y5 (HX) and a D16Y8 (EX).

You have a mess on your hands, as the JDM P2J ECU is hard to find.

Basically... you just need to get the P2J ECU (make sure it is for manual transmission! and make sure it is OBD2a (96-98)), and then run one more wire from the VTEC solenoid to the ECU. The only thing we need to figure out is which wire controls what stage (i've read the green one is for the stage 1-2 transition and the red is for the stage 2-3 transition), and then which pin on the ECU harness that the wire you run needs to be pinned at.

Found the wiring info:

Red wire on VTEC solenoid goes to pin A21 on the ECU harness.
Green/Yellow wire on VTEC solenoid goes to pin A08 on the ECU harness.

So that means that the VTEC wire harness you already have (green/yellow wire... has a green harness plug I believe) goes to the green/yellow wire on the VTEC solenoid. The wire you have to run to the ECU is red to A21. Notice in the ECU pin-out below that A21 is an empty slot when your car is in stock form. You'll need an ECU pin for the wiring you have to add... I don't know where you get one of those.

I looked on eBay for a P2J ECU and all I can find are automatic ECUs. I checked honda-tech marketplace and there are none on there. I have also looked into converting the ECU from automatic to manual and it is not possible because the automatic and manual IACV wiring is different. You're gonna have to search around A LOT.
