Replacing engine harness 99-00
Is it difficult to replace the whole engine harness for a 00 Si. The previous owner messed up the distributor plug and it seems really wack.....That's why I'm replacing the whole harness... Thanks for the Help in advance

Was that your problem of why your car would die at times?
With your wiring harness, I would be alot easier to do with your motor out cause I know if its like my 2000ex, you have ALOT of clips holding it on and its mounted underneath your intake manifold. I think it would alot easier job just to pull the motor rather than get a headache from fighting to get stuff unplugged and unmounted.
Can you not just get a plug from another harness and simply wire it into the harness you have now?

I hope this is the problem because the distributor plug was cut off but connected back with connectors.. More likely this can be a cause because when you try to connect something back it's just never the same again once it's cut off.
If I can do it I'll tell my mechanic to do it for me. But I always like to do stuff on my own. I'll try it 1st. I hope I don't go insane. lo l[:'(]

ORIGINAL: Civic Si 00
I'm also thinking of getting a Type R ECU directly from JAPAN. This should be a better ECU compare to stock (oem)

It shouldn't be that hard to extend the wires and re-pin the distributor connector.... if you do it right there's no reason for it to "never be the same again." And that ECU is definitely not legal in california
if you do replace the whole harness it's going to be tough to do it with the engine in the car.

o ya if you swap it DEFINATLY need to pull the motor outta the car..... and pay attention to where all the plugs and clips are..... and why the motors outta the car might as well wash down the motor and engine bay just looks PURDIER LOL
but instead of CRIMP conectors i would solder the wires and then heatshrink over it... just be sure to put the heatshrink onto the wires before ya solder.... at least i dont see a problem with it like that.... crimp conectors arent to god for more sensitive wires.
i havent done it on my motor cause just havent needed to do anything like that but i think it would be alot beter than crimp conections!
