rims dont fit in?
So I went to a shop today to get my aftermarket motegi's put in, and the guy comes to me 20 minutes later saying that he can't do it because it's a liability, the studs only go halfway into the lug nuts so it's too risky.
I don't get it...if this is the case why are there so many civics out there with aftermarkets, I'm sure the offsets can't be THAT different from rim to rim...
What can I do to fix it? I could get longer studs but that's 4 hours of labor he said. = $308
could I get a wheel gap or something?
oh, and it's a 2000 civic ex

RE: rims dont fit in?
Ya, what the hell kinda nuts was he tryin to put on.
Tuner nuts. They have a longer shank wich gives you more thread. They also help center the wheel better on the hub.
You can also get the fancy chrome nuts that are designed for aftermarket application that have no head on them.
Looks like an old school lug nut off yer dads chevy pick up.

Yeah, I bet he tried to put the stock lugs back on... go to autozone, advance auto, napa (even wal-mart would probably have them) and get some tuner lugs.
Also, why are you having a shop put your wheels on?

The lug nuts look somewhat like these
http://www.evobreed.com/muteki_open_...black_01eb.jpg
open ended and small, they didn't use the stockers
And basically to restate, it's that the bolt goes halfway into the lug nut before the lug nut presses up against the rim and can't go any further
this is unfair :/
why would this be on my car and not any other 00 civics
at least nonei hear of

RE: rims dont fit in?
i dont know whats up..... i fit motegs on my 99 civic just fine... as long as there is enough threads holding in the lug i think youll be fine.. you dont have to have the threads coming out the other side of the lug nut!
i think your shop is stupid as hell...... trust me some shops dont know JACK!!!!
go out there pull a dam wheel off put your rims on the car and use a tire iron and count how many complete turns ya got from starting the threads at first. i think you got pleanty!
you gotta be very lazy to have a shop put your wheels on your car.LOL you dont even need any tools.... your car should have came with a jack and tire iron do one wheel at a time.
