running ruff

Default running ruff

Hey i just got my car running after it had been sitting for a year and got it started today but its running ruff and i have no throttle response.

I think it may have to do with my timing belt or valve adjustment but i dont know.
Any suggestions

bad gas?
gas has a shelf life. try using this gas additive, i can't remember what it's called, but it's red, in a clear funny shaped bottle. that might help you get it running smoother. after you fill up your next tank i bet it runs fine, regardless of whether you buy the additive or not

EDIT: I just went and looked in my garage, it's called "Sta-bil" fuel stabilizer

ok il try it and maybe it will run through the bad gas im so exited my first boost project is almost done.

Also check the plugs, distributor cap, and rotor for corrosion and wear.

My experience with old gas in a stock Civic is that it becomes very hard to start the engine, but once started it runs OK. Also "Sta-Bil" is great stuff but it works as a preservative to keep gas from going bad in the first place. It must be added when the gas is fresh. It will not improve old gas that is already bad.

There should be a drain plug on the gas tank you can use to empty out the old gas. Don't drive to use it out, you should not drive much without tuning.

After getting new gas in but before going to the tuners, check that all 4 cylinders are working. Do that by disconnecting the fuel injectors one at a time while the engine is idling. It should slow down when you disconnect one, going from running on 4 cylinders to 3. If you have a dead cylinder, the engine will run the same whether that injector is connected or not.
