OK I am in a machinist program and I decided to make my own aluminum shift **** its goin ggood but I have a 7th gen civic and I dont know how to take the shifter off every time I turn it the whole shift boot comes with it if I but my own shift **** on it will it still hold up my shift boot?

ok I figured it out all I had to do is pull but now my shift boot doesnt stay up with the new hift **** so I took it off

 

Try wrapping a zip tie or rubber bands around the shift rod under neath the top of the boot and it will hold it up nice like this
This was easy and worked great for me.
