ok i finally painted the shock tower bar, it came out realy realy nice. but i ont like the color that much. i primered the whole bar with gray filler, then half of the bar black primer and the other left it gray (to see if there is a difference) and nope there isnt. The color is good, but it matches my car too much. now im stuck on what i want to do.

either stay with gunmetal or go black

edit:

alright nvm i might stay with the gunmetal. after seeing this picture, i think it lookds good.

Hahaha so many decisions lmao

But that diy by reaper (the using spray paint efectively one) was very helpful for me...havent gotten to it but i gotta repaint my hx's soon. Gonna redo the black.

In your case i say stick with the gunmetal dipsetcivic i kno it would be really close to the color of ur car but it will come out nice imo

OMG. Painting these rims is horrible. the worst part is the sanding. ive only sanded/primered one wheel, and another is halfway sanded. its such a pain. but hopefully once school is done, ill have more time to finish them up. until then here is the primered rim

awwwww shizzz!!!!! i mis-read your write up reaper, and i was sanding 120 grit-220-400-800-1000 and then primered. but i just re-read it and it says sand 120-220 primer then sand 400. then primer again and sand with 400. then after that lay color with same procedure as primer. then lay clear and this is where you use the 800-1000-2000.

should i redo my first 2 wheels?

this is what i did to them

the first one i sanded 120-220-400-800-1000. then primered and sanded with 400.

the second one i sanded 120-220-400-800.

please dont say i have to start again. i will kick a baby if i do

do you think the other 2 wheels will come out different then the first 2 wheels if i sand the other wheels with 120-220 (like reapers diy) then primer?

They should come out about the same. I just think 220 is a smooth enough finish for primer; I use filler primer, so it fills in small scratches, so I never get my stuff glass-smooth before priming. As long as the color and clear coats are finished off with the same grit, it should turn out the same.

**** this doesnt make me feel good about having to repaint my hx's soon ive already decided that i aint gonna do it anytime soon (cause i dont have the time mainly) but still i kno its gonna be a paint in the @$$...this guy at work said that he doesnt sand the rims at all when he paints them (actually he said he doesnt sand anything at all when he paints stuff) is he retarded as hell or could that work? i think that hes full of it but hes fixed his rims twice now and they both look good and are holding up rather well.
