Silly Bet Taken to FAR??? Need your Input
Current Stats: 1995 Honda Civic Dx coupe / 5 speed / 106K / Stock Red
Mods: Aftermarket K & N stock replacement air filter / Magnaflow exhaust with 2 ¼ cat-back.
Just a little F.Y.I. this project for me is a personal one really. People told me I will not be able to drive this car for another 20 years… I laughed at them and said will all the engine swaps you can do and other parts and the fact it’s a Honda, I could. So even though buying a better car would be nice. Why? No point really when I can do so much to this car within itself and not have a car note. Just keep buying my wife a new car and use her old one to get around while my is worked on or down getting new parts. So the dare I gave myself is smaller then that but I said I will drive this car until I hit 35 or so. Which now gives me 8 years with this car since I’m 27 (because I do want a Mitshb.EVO) But since im far off from wanting a car note (have to have the house first and finish college) the Honda it is. So here we are men and women, my project named….blackout. First off the engine I want to put in there is a B or K-series motor inside since those are newer by the time I do a swap which is some time off. (maybe 2 years) but until then I want to handle my body and handling….so what do you think over all. Am I silly for even wanting to do this or does it sound like a plan?[/align]

Personally, if i were you. Id like to see this thing last that long just as you would. However, doing things to it... theres always a chance theres problems. When problems occurr, tempers rise. lol, thus getting mad at your car and wanting to get rid of it. I would just drive it how it is and keep up on the general maintenance...

well you can do whatever you want to the car and it will probably hold up for a while, assuming you dont go crazy on turbo boost and super high compression pistons... general maintenance is KEY... especially on your timing belt. the B engine is a good plan because they are reliable and have tons of parts for them. not to mention you can get one with low miles becaus of Japan's insurance laws... Basically, it sounds like a plan to me as long as you dont try and squeese every ounce of power out of the engine, making it less reliable. ohh and go easy on the tranny

I say... let the stock civic run. I've seen tons of civics with over 300K kms on stock engines. If your car has been maintained properly, it will go 8 years easy.
