starting a civic

RE: starting a civic
ummm...in some other thread sacicons had some very good reasoning on WHY you guys shouldnt spend money on making your car fast at first. If I am not mistaking some of his reasons were that anybody who just got their licence and doesn't have much road experience IS risking his and other people's lives by driving a fast car. I would suggest you invest into handling aspects of your cars i.e. sways, good tires, tie bars, better brakes, etc. Get into autocross and such, refine your driving, than you can go ahead and say FI your car if that is what you want. Please don't mislead yourself by believing that you are the best driver out there, I'm not and I have quite a few years of driving experience. Just my few coins on the subject.

RE: starting a civic
yes
im fifteen this summer, and i can get from point A to point B but i know im not the best driver, im getting handling first b/c i realize that i might kill myself if i have too much power than my exp. can handle
EDIT: and ive said this in multiple threads before, dont look for an Si of that gen. theyre a bitch to find, theyre a good 5-6k more expensive than an EX or DX, and its simply much easier to find parts for the latter two, plus if you put a b16 in a DX or EX you basically have an Si, there are slight body and mounting difference, but since your just concerned about HP (like you shouldnt be) then just get a cheaper trim and change the engine, it will still end up being 3 grand cheaper w/ the same horsepower
EDIT: just found out today, thot u guys should know...the Si isnt much faster than anything else cuz its a heavier car than the other trims...just thot u shud know

RE: starting a civic
the first upgrade a kid should do to his car is learn how to drive it. JW, i believe that there is a performance racing school in downtown wayzata (by ben and jerry's). that should be able to teach you some drivers skill suck as picking lines to apex a corner and whatnot. you need to learn the limits of your car well, so that one day you don't decide to take a fast corner without realizing that your car has alot of understeer and you nail a curb. (not that i condone auto-x'ing on the streets)
